First Steps and Possible Mistakes in Starting Your Business

It is not easy to master a new skill or to start a new business. Disappointment at the beginning of a new path is much more likely than satisfaction, since you have to invest a lot of effort without getting anything in return. This may seem frightening.

Remember how we started learning to swim or ride a bicycle. Like in cycling, starting a business can start with falls. Falls are always painful and often humiliating, but you should not allow temporary failures to stop you on your way. Even professional cyclists are falling, and successful entrepreneurs fail.

Almost any person is disappointed after certain failures. It is not necessary to think that this feeling is peculiar only to weak people. Any normal person, having spent a considerable amount of physical and mental strength and not having received the result, will be disappointed. It is just necessary to know that this feeling of frustration is the part of the process.

Faced with failure and not seeing progress in the development of events, it is very tempting to quit everything. Too many people refused to move forward, being only two steps from the goal. The spent hours and days will sooner or later bear fruit. Though you are still far from the goal, but you have already gone too far from the beginning of your new path, to recklessly throw everything in a fit of disappointment. Let the goal have not been achieved yet, but you have acquired new skills, have become stronger and more experienced, which, undoubtedly, will soon bear fruit.

Starting your business, you are wasting your energy to develop a business plan, recruitment, build a production and sales system, while seeing that the revenues are too far from the expected. You need to understand that you are laying the foundation for your future successes. The less you see progress in your new business, the more tenacious you must be.

Among sensible people, there are those who do not like failures. Business is a constant risk and uncertainty, it is an opportunity to fail at any time. It is necessary to understand that a brave person is not someone who does not feel fear, but one who does not allow fear to control his actions.

Most of the things that stand in our life require considerable labor and risk. Not always and not all get rid of the fear of a new business. You need to learn to work through fear, not allowing it to paralyze your mind.

Undoubtedly, theoretical knowledge are helpful. However, dozens of books will not be able to replace one practical experience. It is known that many successful businessmen had a very good education, which did not prevent them from reaching the thorny path of trial and errors, which cost them billions of dollars. The desire to accumulate as much knowledge as possible before starting a new business can easily cross the line of reason and become an ordinary delay.

In any business, skill comes with practice. What seemed incredibly difficult at one time becomes commonplace, not requiring much effort. Doing your business and making a lot of mistakes, you become more perfect every day. The longer the process of practical training for business lasts, the easier it will be for you to take each new step.

Serious business takes time. Creating your business will take more than one day and, perhaps, more than one year. Successes will be replaced by failures, but you will not turn off the planned path, even if your efforts have not yet produced a visible result.

If we are afraid of a new business, then this business is significant for us, for our spiritual growth. If it were not so important, there would not be so many obstacles in our way. However, we should not forget that there are some mistakes that should be avoided, especially when starting the business.

Mistake # 1. Many entrepreneurs retain a large number of unnecessary information in their memory. Their problem lies in the fact that they try to remember all that they have to do and where they should be.

Mistake # 2. Many people do not focus on the fulfillment of the priority task, but spray their efforts on the simultaneous execution of several tasks. They do not have a clear plan of action.

Mistake # 3. There is not enough time to complete the main task. Many entrepreneurs and ordinary people mistakenly believe that they do not have enough time to fulfill their priority tasks because of their employment. Then a natural question arises, how did these tasks fall into the list of priorities and what are they doing there?

Mistake # 4. People try to ideally fulfill those things that do not play any role for the realization of long-term goals in the future. This gives them an excellent opportunity to waste most of their working time.

Mistake # 5. Incorrect planning or complete absence thereof. An illiterate plan of action is one of the most common options needed for a complete fiasco of your project. If the plan is not available at all, then you will lose a lot of time thinking of its impossible implementation.

Mistake # 6. Inability to say "no". The entrepreneur should say "yes" if he is 100%, sure that he can fulfill the task. If he is not sure of this and says "yes" just to avoid missing the client, then most likely nothing good will come of it.

Mistake # 7. Work in inappropriate conditions. If an entrepreneur cannot figure out what is around him at the moment, then he will have few chances, to keep his future under control.

Mistake # 8. The attempt to meet the shortest deadlines. Of course, there are situations when you need to complete the task by the specified date. However, if such situations happen all the time, then this can exhaust anyone. In addition, you do not need to be too confident in your abilities. Remember that timely rest will increase your productive efficiency!

Mistake # 9. Many entrepreneurs do not cope with the flow of incoming cases. Sometimes the best solution is to delegate this work to a specialist.

Mistake # 10. Often entrepreneurs confuse efficiency with visible activity. This is not the same thing. The solution to this problem may lie in the discrepancy between tactical and strategic objectives.

Mistake # 11. Many start their day with a mail check. This is a dead end of the development. Take the rule of checking mail only after you have completed at least one case from the list of current priorities. An excellent solution will be if you accustom yourself to check mail at a certain time, and not as soon as you get mails.

Mistake # 12. With the growth of business, the volume of tasks that need to be addressed is increasing. Accordingly, the amount of time spent also increases. In this situation, you must act differently - you need to reassess priorities. After the reassessment, most of the tasks will cease to be urgent and important.

Mistake # 13. You do not have to work all the time. You need to be able to plan your personal life in the same way that you plan a business. It is silly to spend your weekends and holidays on figuring out the mailbox.
